A Good Time With a Purpose!
The Youth Temperance Council (YTC) is
the 12 to 21 age group of the WCTU. The purpose of the YTC is to unite the youth of the community, state, and nation in a program of Christian citizenship. The YTC program is fourfold: Spiritual, Intellectual, Physical, and Social.
Membership is open to boys and girls, requirements are signing the total abstinence pledge and payment of annual dues.
To organize a council there must be at least five members and an adult leader known as the Executive Director. Meetings are monthly.
The YTC has a fourfold program: Spiritual, Intellectual, Physical, and Social which is based on Luke 2:52.
It is carried out through four departments: Christian Living, Education, Public Relations, and Social.
The fourth week in April is recognized as Youth Temperance Education Week. Governors' and mayors' proclamations are obtained and material especially prepared for the week are distributed, particularly YTC handouts for churches, schools & everywhere else.
The YTC motto is "A good time with a purpose."
The National Executive Director plans the program for the year and prepares material for the councils. She is also responsible for YTC Day during the National WCTU convention.
The Local Executive Director (sometimes a couple) meets with the local group, usually about once a month, to plan projects.
